The Old Vic aims to be very welcoming and accessible to all and we are committed to making your visit as easy and enjoyable as possible. However, the Theatre is nearly 200 years old and access may be restricted in certain areas by the building's physical layout.

Getting Here

Regrettably, there is no step-free access to the foyer, box office or any bars at this time. Please contact a member of staff if you require any assistance during your visit.

There are four steps from the street into the foyer and box office. Handrails are available on either side of the entrance. From the foyer there are three steps into the Stalls (without handrails). There are 29 steps to the Dress Circle and a further 20 steps to the Baylis Circle. Please contact the Duty Manager during your visit if you have any other requirements

Booking Tickets
For booking, more information and help with your requirements, please contact our accessible booking team on 0871 297 5477. To ensure the best choice of seats, we advise you to book in advance and we'll send you your tickets before the performance. Concessions are available for disabled patrons - please ask for details when booking and mention if you require an aisle seat, a seat near the front or if you have any other requirements. All concessions are limited and subject to availability.

Wheelchair Users
There is a space for wheelchair users in the Stalls. Please inform the box office at the time of booking if you require a wheelchair space. When you arrive at the Theatre, please make yourself known to a member of the front-of-house team (there's always someone at the main entrance from at least an hour before the performance). They will escort you to the Webber Street side of the building where there is ramped access leading directly into the Stalls. Entry to the auditorium is not possible until approximately half an hour before the start of the performance. There is an adapted toilet close to this entrance.

There is a disabled parking bay available on Webber Street. For further information please contact Lambeth Council.

Facilities for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
The auditorium is fitted with a Sennheiser infra-red system. Two types of hearing device are available: headsets for people who don't use hearing aids, but would like amplified sound; or neck loops for use with a hearing aid by switching it to the 'T' position or setting. If you have a digital hearing aid, please ensure that it's 'T' setting is available, as not all digital hearing aids have a 'T' setting installed.

Headsets should be collected from the cloakroom in the main foyer before the performance. A returnable deposit of £5 is payable. Please inform the box office when booking if you'd like to make use of the system and they will advise on where best to sit. There is also an induction loop point at the box office counter in the main foyer.

Facilities for Visually Impaired People
Please mention your requirements when booking and we will do our best to ensure you have appropriate seats, however, early booking is strongly advised. Please also let the box office know if you'd like to bring your guide dog into the auditorium and we will try and offer an aisle seat if available. We will also advise you of any special effects in the production that might affect your dog's comfort. The Front of House staff will be happy to take care of your dog during the performance if you would prefer.
