Assistant to the Development Director
The role will provide efficient, comprehensive and proactive support to the Development Director, working as part of the fundraising team. The job requires first class administration and office skills and experience of running a busy office. Experience of fundraising in the arts is desirable.

The Old Vic Theatre Internship Programme
The Old Vic Internship Programme offers six 3-month, full time internships for those eager to forge a career in the arts:
1.Production Intern
The position supports The Old Vic Theatre Company (which produces The Old Vic’s season of plays), handling a range of administrative tasks including ticketing, supporting the production department, and handling general enquiries via email and phone. This position is ideally suited to those wanting to pursue a career in Theatre Production.
2.Theatre Administration Intern
The position supports The Old Vic Theatre Trust team, and provides a unique opportunity to explore in depth and be hands-on in the day-to-day management of this iconic theatre. This position is ideally suited to someone wishing to pursue a career in the varied fields of arts administration, venue management and/or charity governance. Responsibilities include dealing with hiring enquiries, building and FOH support, Stage Door cover, guest ticketing, theatre access, health and safety compliance, and handling general enquiries via email and phone. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to liaise regularly with all other departments within the theatre.
3.Old Vic New Voices Intern
The position supports Old Vic New Voices (the education, community and emerging talent departments), handling a range of administrative tasks including liaising with schools, communicating theatrical information to young actors, writers, directors and producers, assisting with OVNV productions and events and handling general enquiries via e-mail and phone.
4.Development Intern
The position supports the Development Department, which raises funds by building relationships with donors, holding fundraising galas, seeking corporate sponsorship and applying to trusts and foundations. Being a theatre without subsidy, this work is vital to achieving our ambitious plans. The Development Intern will have the opportunity to learn about all aspects of our work and be responsible for handling a range of administrative tasks, such as fielding enquiries via email and phone, communication with members of The Old Vic Club, assisting at events, arranging ticket bookings, maintaining the database and undertaking research projects.
5. Marketing Intern
The position supports The Old Vic Theatre Company Marketing department, which plans and implements the marketing strategy for The Old Vic’s season of plays in the main house and The Old Vic Tunnels. The role involves handling a range of administrative tasks including supporting the marketing staff in implementing the marketing campaigns and organising photo-shoots; liaising with our press agency; media monitoring; maintaining front of house displays and handling general enquiries via e-mail and phone. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to liaise with a wide variety of external agencies and organisations, in addition to the other departments within the theatre. This position is ideally suited to those wanting to pursue a career in Arts Marketing.
6. Technical Intern.
The position supports the Old Vic Theatre Company Production Management and Technical departments in the pre production, set up and running of productions at the Old Vic and other venues around the UK and abroad. The position is suited to someone interested in a career in Production Management. It will primarily be office based but will also involve working with all technical departments involved in productions. During production periods some long and unsocial hours will be required.
Internship dates and application timings are as follows:
January – March, apply by 30 November
April – June, apply by 28 February
July – September, apply by 31 May
October – December, apply by 31 August
Interns are given a small contribution towards expenses. You will be expected to work 5 days a week, 10-6pm, but need to be prepared to work outside of these hours if necessary. We always have a high volume of applications to get through and so it may be some time before we are able to get back to you. If successful you will be asked to attend an interview at The Old Vic. Unsuccessful candidates will not be contacted.

The Old Vic Tunnels Internship Programme
The Old Vic Tunnels Internship Programme offers four 3-month, part time internships for those eager to forge a career in the arts:
1. Production Intern (Feb – Apr 2012)
The purpose of the role is to support the TOVT team with the research of upcoming events in The Old Vic Tunnels and to handle a range of administrative tasks. This position will give you an excellent over-view of the tasks involved in running an arts venue and suited to someone wishing to pursue a career in the varied field of arts administration.
2. Technical-Site Intern (Feb – April 2012)
The position supports the Site Team in the pre-production, set up and running of productions at The Old Vic Tunnels. You will also assist the team in the maintenance, up keep and practical development of the site. The position is suited to someone interested in a career in technical-site management.
Interns are given a small contribution towards expenses. You will be expected to work 2 days a week, 10-6pm, but need to be prepared to work outside of these hours if necessary. If successful you will be asked to attend an interview at The Old Vic Tunnels. Unsuccessful candidates will not be contacted.
