The Old Vic is a gateway to a world of creative, social and employment opportunities in the theatre.
World renowned, The Old Vic today leads the way for the next generation of theatre-goers and theatre-makers as it has done for almost 200 years. Whether your interest is in theatre on or off stage, in broadening your creative imagination, or simply learning how to communicate better in an interview, this is where futures begin.

Working in theatre is fun, creative and challenging and we are committed to encouraging as many people as possible to consider a career in the performing arts.
Twice a year, we offer week-long placements to creative, curious and enthusiastic young people with a chance to work across different departments and learn about how a theatre really works.
No previous experience of theatre is necessary and these opportunities are offered as part of compulsory school work experience only. Participants will be accompanied by a DBS checked Old Vic member of staff at all times.
Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Front Line, through the generous support of the Peter De Haan Charitable Trust, is a unique paid work experience scheme ideally suited to young people aged 16-20 interested in pursuing a career in theatre or hospitality.
Shadow our Front of House department to experience first-hand working within our sales, catering and ushering teams and learn about what it takes to deliver first class customer service.
This scheme is for those who are team players, with exceptional communication skills and a passion for theatre but who are unsure about where to start. We can help you build confidence and develop your understanding of working in a theatre.
We welcome those from all backgrounds to apply and particularly those not in education, employment or training.
Each year, in collaboration and with the support of Southwark Council, our Education team offer two internship opportunities to support projects, provide administrative support, devise and prepare workshop plans and carrying out research to inform future planning.
This is a great way to learn more about the work of the Education team and The Old Vic and we particularly welcome applications from people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups living in Southwark. Contact us at email@example.com for more information.
The Old Vic hosts course specific internships from time to time. If you are a university, college or drama school student in search of a compulsory work placement, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org with details of your area of interest and the dates of your placement.
