A gift in your Will

The Old Vic holds a special place in the hearts and memories of many theatregoers. We know if you are taken to the theatre as a child and your imagination is captured that you’re a lifelong theatregoer.

As The Old Vic is a registered charity, no inheritance tax is payable on the amount of your gift. So in addition to supporting The Old Vic, your legacy gift could also reduce the inheritance tax liability on your estate. Anyone leaving a minimum 10% of their taxable estate to charity can qualify for a reduced rate, down from the usual 40% of taxable wealth to 36%. Your legal advisor will be able to provide more details, and you can refer to legacy10.com or hmrc.gov.uk/inheritancetax

If you decide to leave a gift for our general purposes, you can remember us with a fixed amount or a share of the residue of your estate. We would be happy to discuss how your gift should be recognised or whether you prefer to remain anonymous. If you’d like your gift to be directed to a specific purpose – suggested examples include building upkeep, production costs, or support for our creative learning department – contact us so we can provide details and answer any of your questions.
