BRANDED by Simon Bent (Theatregoers' Choice Awards 2008 Best New Comedy Elling) begins with the launch of the most sought after shoe on earth. As the world clamors for this season's 'must have' who is prepared to sell their soul for a sole?
This exciting new multi-media piece will be performed by a company of 50 selected from open auditions. The production will incorporate drama, film, music, visuals, dance and physical theatre supplemented by a choir and live percussionists to create an exhilarating theatrical event for the world famous Old Vic stage.
The project is part of our Old Vic New Voices programme that supports young and emerging talent, sources and develops new work for production and opens up the building to new and diverse audiences. As part of the programme we create large scale community play projects which anyone can take part in. Somme Theatre our first project of this kind went onto win the National Lottery Awards 2007 – Best Heritage Project.
BRANDED builds on this success and is part of wider project called Go for Green which has already worked with 30 schools and over 900 young people to encourage them to think about ecology, the environment and consumerism.
