Baylis Director for Season 4

The Baylis Director role provides a unique opportunity for an early career director to work closely within the Artistic team at The Old Vic, direct a production on The Old Vic stage, propose a new piece for commission, engage with our development, education and community work and act as an Old Vic ambassador.

Successful candidates will:

  • have directed two or more professional productions which have had demonstrable impact
  • have experience of working in fringe or regional theatre
  • display a commitment to developing new work
  • have a passion for engaging audiences in the magic and adventure of theatre
  • be able to demonstrate that this opportunity will significantly advance their opportunity and profile in the industry

The preparation period will begin in February 2018, with the official start date in September 2018, ending in August 2019.

Baylis Director Job Description

 

Deputy Head of Electrics

The Old Vic is seeking an experienced Deputy Head of Electrics. Reporting to the Head of Electrics, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Extensive experience of working in a similar environment and role
  • Strong knowledge of EOS Family Consoles and moving light programming (essential)
  • Formal electrical qualifications will be an advantage
  • Experience of equipment maintenance and PAT
  • Good IT literacy, with experience of Vectorworks, AutoCAD and Lightwright
  • Ability to follow instructions and a high attention to detail
  • A clear understanding of current health and safety legislation
  • A flexible attitude to working hours as evening and weekend working will be required

The successful candidate will have excellent organisation and administration skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to the Theatre.

Experience of Tessitura, Photoshop and WordPress would be advantageous.
