Get Going at The Old Vic

Get Going at The Old Vic

Over the last three months, our Get Going groups of primary schools and community groups for elder community members have come together online through a series of workshops about writing, singing and moving. The workshops were inspired by theme of kindness and together, along with Composer Dom Coyote, the groups wrote an original song, choreographed movements for it for World Poetry Day on 21 Mar 2021. Here is A Cup of Kindness:

What is Get Going?

Applications are currently closed for Get Going but to find out about upcoming projects, please join our Take Part mailing list

Get Going is a series of free online workshops encouraging older and younger people to connect, try new challenges and engage creatively.

Theatre is a powerful tool for social connection and at a time when we are unable to bring people into our theatre, we will join communities together in a partnership which will long outlast the duration of the project.

10 primary schools and 10 community groups for elder community members will take part in three workshops online and will be supported through online resources as they work with industry professionals to GET WRITING, GET SINGING and GET MOVING to create a new piece of music.

PARTICIPATING GROUPS WILL RECEIVE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Three free online workshops, or in person where possible
  • An opportunity to connect with partner schools and community groups
  • A CPD session for teachers and community leaders
  • Support throughout from The Old Vic Education & Community team
  • A follow up event
  • We will also facilitate an introductory Zoom meeting ahead of the workshops for any teachers or community leaders that would like this

The Old Vic gratefully acknowledges support through the Culture Recovery Fund from Arts Council England. Also supported by Clore Duffield Foundation and the Old Vic Endowment Trust
