12 Choirs of Christmas
‘What a great place to bring two generations together at Christmas time’ Community Choir Member
In response to increased reports of loneliness and isolation in the elder community and as part of our commitment to promoting mental health and wellbeing each year we team up primary school choirs and over 60s community groups to create 12 intergenerational choirs.
Each newly formed choir works with a musical director for two rehearsals before joining us in our foyer to perform a selection of carols and festive songs to a live audience across December. Teachers and Group Leaders also have the opportunity to attend an additional music training session to support their professional development.
‘My favourite part was when everyone clapped because it made me feel proud. Also meeting new people from the community group and working together as a team’
Primary School Student Choir Member
Concerts are free to attend and open to all.
‘It was absolutely fantastic for the children to meet the community group and people from the theatre. It’s developed their confidence and experiences. It was such a great turn out from parents as well and has helped us to further open up theatre to our families’
