Work Experience and Internships

Behind The Scenes: Work Experience Placements

Working in theatre is fun, creative and challenging and we are committed to encouraging as many people as possible to consider a career in the performing arts.

At certain times of the year, we offer week-long placements to creative, curious and enthusiastic young people with a chance to experience the different departments and explore the inner workings of the theatre.

No previous experience of theatre is necessary and participants will be accompanied by a DBS checked Old Vic member of staff at all times.

How To Apply

Due to the limited number of spaces, applications for work experience placements are currently closed.

Please keep checking our other opportunities for young people here.

Old Vic Local Internships for Southwark residents

Each year, in collaboration and with the support of Southwark Council, our Education and Community team offer up to two internship opportunities to support their work on a variety of projects.

This is a great way to learn more about the work of the Education and Community team and The Old Vic and we particularly welcome applications from people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups living in Southwark. Contact us at for more information.
