Work Experience and Internships
Behind The Scenes: Secondary School Work Experience Placements
Working in theatre is fun, creative and challenging and we are committed to encouraging as many people as possible to consider a career in the performing arts.
Twice a year, we offer week-long placements to creative, curious and enthusiastic young people with a chance to work across different departments and learn about how a theatre really works. Please check our website regularly for application opening and closing dates.
No previous experience of theatre is necessary and these particular opportunities are offered as part of compulsory secondary school work experience only (please see our other opportunities available on this page if this is not relevant to you). Participants will be accompanied by a DBS checked Old Vic member of staff at all times.
Applications for work experience placements are currently closed, please keep checking our other opportunities for young people here.
Old Vic Local Internships for Southwark residents
Each year, in collaboration and with the support of Southwark Council, our Education and Community team offer up to two internship opportunities to support their work on a variety of projects.
This is a great way to learn more about the work of the Education and Community team and The Old Vic and we particularly welcome applications from people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups living in Southwark. Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Further Education Work Placements

If you are a university, college or drama school student in search of a work placement to complete as a compulsory part of your course, please contact us on email@example.com with details of your area of interest and the dates of your placement.
