TS Eliot Commissions | The Old Vic Commissions Nine New Plays

The Old Vic announces the first nine recipients of the TS Eliot Commissions, designed to give emerging playwrights the opportunity to write a zeitgeist play of their choosing to be included in a future season of new work produced by Old Vic New Voices (OVNV) the theatres talent development department. The nine recipients are Daniel Andersen, Jon Barton, Jake Brunger, Zoe Cooper, Matt Hartley, Steven Hevey, Cat Jones, Kieran Lynn, Nessah Muthy.

Subjects tackled include inner city outcasts, property politics, idealistic monogamy, a modern day romantic comedy and escape. The project is the culmination of over a decade of discovery and development in the tenure of Kevin Spacey who has put talent development, creative learning and community access at the heart of his vision for the theatre. Many of those discovered and supported have gone on to work in senior management and creative positions, become household names or write and direct for theatre, television and film.

Steve Winter, Director Old Vic New Voices said: Im proud that were supporting so many writers in a very real financial and creative way – made possible through the support of the TS Eliot Estate. These writers are offering zeitgeist storytelling in a fresh voice.
