Applications open for The Lab - Family Theatre
The Old Vic Lab offers 100% subsidised rehearsal space and support to a variety of projects throughout the year. This time around we are looking to support work created for family audiences.
How can I apply?
We are inviting developing artists and companies to apply for up to two weeks of free rehearsal or workshop space throughout November 2017.
In order to submit your application please click here and complete the following survey in full.
Applications will close on Sunday 17 September at 5pm. We will aim to inform successful applicants by Friday 29 September.
What do I get?
If successful, we will allocate you selected dates in one of our rehearsal spaces at The Old Vic Workrooms in Bermondsey. The time and space will be yours to do with as you see fit and a member of The Old Vic team will be available on the final day to offer feedback and advice on future development. You will also have access to the Green Room, a relaxing breakout space and central hub for artists working in the building.
What are you looking for?
We are currently looking to support theatre makers, companies or artists who are creating work aimed at family audiences.
Please note we are not necessarily looking for work to programme at The Old Vic, but would like to support the development of projects that could belong elsewhere in the wider industry.
We are looking for a mixture of projects with a variety of requirements, so please try to be accurate about how much time and space you need. As with each role at The Old Vic, we welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds.
How much does it cost?
Absolutely nothing! Well, maybe a tweet or two…
Can I get some help?

Quotes from The Old Vic Workrooms users:
‘I can think of nowhere else that offers free space. This is an extraordinary resource for a young company and is sometimes the difference between being able to make the show and not. It’s a great community and really exciting place to be able to use.’
‘The impact is huge. Without space to work it would have been completely impossible to get any of our projects or even our company off the ground.’
‘I feel more so than ever that The Old Vic is an extremely supportive organisation that is ready to offer time and resources to emerging artists.’
This project was made possible with seed funding from The D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust, The Noël Coward Foundation and The Stanley Picker Trust.
