Meet The Old Vic 12 – Gareth Farr
On 5 December 2017 we announced The Old Vic 12 class of 2018 to the world. Consisting of writers, directors, designers, producers, composers and even a puppet maker, the group will spend the next year collaborating to create new work throughout our bicentenary year and beyond.
Each week we’ll be getting to know a different member of this talented company through 12 questions – for week four we caught up with writer Gareth Farr.
1. What’s your name?
2. What do you do?
3. Who inspires you?
Loads of people, it’s so hard to say, often people I don’t expect will make me want to start writing.
4. What can’t you live without?
Wife, children, cheese, crackers, pickle.
5. Theatre snacks – yay or nay?
No way. Get fed before you go or after it’s done, never during.
6. Your favourite piece of trivia?
If you spelled out every number in letters, you would need to get to one thousand before you used the letter ‘A’.
7. Last show you saw?
The Jungle – The Young Vic.
8. One trick of the trade you’ve discovered
Just keep typing.
9. Night owl or early bird?
Both – sleep is for losers.
10. Your life story in one short sentence
Cursed with ambition.
11. In one year you will have…
Written a killer play.
