Supporting Artist Development

Artistic Director Matthew Warchus’ vision for The Old Vic is one of a creative hub, where the next generation’s energy and raw talent fuels and inspires established industry professionals as much as they themselves inspire their successors. Through our Artist Development programme, we support emerging practitioners by giving them access to industry professionals, networking opportunities and seed funding. The emphasis is on collaborative working and an entrepreneurial approach.

The Old Vic 12 programme, for example, is a career-enhancing scheme for 12 emerging artists (three writers, three directors, three producers, a choreographer, a designer and a composer) to explore their creative potential and take the next step in their careers during a year with The Old Vic; offering participants an opportunity to expand their networks, create new work, receive first class mentorship and benefit from a prestigious association with the Theatre.

Supported by the following Trusts and Foundations: The Noël Coward Foundation; The Fenton Arts Trust; Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation; The Luscinus Trust; PRS Foundation.
