A six-storey building for creativity, education and community

We’re excited to introduce Backstage – a brand new space next to our 207-year-old theatre. It will create a home for our groundbreaking employability and education programmes that support our local community, schools and creative practitioners. It will also be a new neighbourhood hub, with a café and workspace by day that will transform into a vibrant bar and restaurant at night.

This new building will allow us to:

  • Truly embed our work in the local community
  • Support creativity and career development through our Clore Learning Centre, Script Library, Writers’ Room and Studio
  • Double the number of education, community and artist development participants we work with each year
  • Welcome emerging artists from all backgrounds to network and share work
  • Make our stage and back-of-house areas accessible for the first time in over 200 years
  • Offer an event space for hire with beautiful views of London

We are committed to making it a welcoming space that anyone can use and enjoy, and we cannot wait to welcome you later this year.

We have launched a fundraising campaign to raise £100,000 by the end of July and we need your support to raise these vital funds. Every contribution brings us closer to opening the doors of this transformative new building and ensuring that anyone can experience, make, and benefit from, theatre.

Every penny of the £100,000 raised in this campaign will be matched by three generous supporters, so donate now and have your donation doubled at no extra cost to you.
