Let it be put on record: @jackthorne‘s A Christmas Carol @oldvictheatre is a thing of ceaseless beauty and unending joy. Uncynical yet unsentimental, rooted in its era yet thunderously modern. See it, and be borne out of the theatre on an afflatus of overwhelming humanity.

A Christmas Carol at the Old Vic was phenomenal, magical, beautiful and honestly one of the best show I’ve seen. As the woman sat behind me said “if you haven’t cried, you’re dead inside”. Thank you @jackthorne for another masterpiece ✨?

Thorne’s Christmas Carol is now — and I do not say this lightly — on a level pegging with the Muppet Christmas Carol. And Dickens would have ADORED it.
— Tom Sutcliffe (@tds153) 29 November 2017
as a child I hated Dickens ‘A Christmas Carol’ – but #OVChristmasCarol takes such a beautifully fresh perspective on it, full of fun, laughter, sadness, and christmas carols and then soaks it all in shadow and darkness – making it hard not to love, and love it I did.
