As a registered charity itself, The Old Vic believes that it is vital to encourage those around us to support others. Since 2017, through bucket collections and online and text donations around A Christmas Carol, our incredible audiences have raised over £1,275,000 in aid of charities Waterloo Foodbank, Field Lane, The Felix Project, Coram Beanstalk, FoodCycle, FareShare and City Harvest London.
We’re thrilled to announce that the production is hoping to enable another charity to raise funds in 2025. We are currently looking for charities to nominate themselves to be the recipient of this year’s festive bucket collection.
- Preference will be given to charities working within The Old Vic’s home city of London
- The annual turnover of the charity must not exceed £3 million per year
- The charity’s core function must focus on tackling issues of inner-city deprivation, particularly in relation to limited access to food, water, housing, clothing, education or employment.
- To apply, charities should send an email of no more than 500 words detailing: a brief history of the charity; its mission; its reach/impact; a proposal for how the donation would be used
- Applications should also include details of how the charity is set up, whether as a charitable company, incorporated charitable organisation (ICO), community benefit society or something else; please provide details including any Companies House or Charity Commission registration numbers
- Applications should include the subject title ‘A Christmas Carol charitable support 2025’ and be emailed to charity@oldvictheatre.com by Fri 25 Jul 2025 and will be shortlisted by The Old Vic against the above criteria. The successful charity will be contacted by the end of August and announced in September.
