‘Deliciously witty’ DanceBeat

This is Samuel Pepys. Completely unfiltered.

From his infidelities, to his perversions, to his meetings with the King, to his bunions, Pepys recorded it all in his diary. He had a compulsion to report every minute of his daily life and to examine himself through the pages.

17c splices contemporary dance, spoken word, video and music in this witty, fast-paced and feminist raid through the tell-all diaries, taking apart Pepys’ character and giving voices to the women in his life – in particular his tragic wife, Bess.

Conceived and directed by Annie-B Parson (Here Lies LoveLazarus), New York City based company Big Dance Theater makes its UK premiere at The Old Vic.
