Three free IN CAMERA: PLAYBACK performances of Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax will be offered to schools across the globe for Earth Day on 22 April.
Teachers have the opportunity to book for one of the three performances which will be streamed at various times throughout the day on Thu 22 Apr, and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Booking closes at 9am BST on 21 Apr.
HOW TO BOOK YOUR FREE SCHOOLS TICKET
- Register your school: we’ll need your school name, school type (primary, secondary etc.), school address and the general contact email address for your school. We’ll also ask for your contact details as the class teacher (your first name, last name and your teacher address – please don’t use your general school contact email address for this as this can lead to important information about how to watch getting lost)Register
- Book your ticket: once you’ve registered your school you’ll be able to select your free ticket for the performance time that works best for your school. One link will provide you with one link to watch on one screen (this link can’t be shared)
- Register as the teacher: when your free ticket has been selected, you’ll need to create an Old Vic account as the lead booker for your class using your teacher email address (the same one you used when registering your teacher details in Step 1)
- Complete the booking and check your emails: the teacher will receive important information about how to watch the performance within 24 hours of making the booking. If this hasn’t come through within 24 hours of your booking, please contact the team at firstname.lastname@example.org and they’ll be able to help
‘Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better.
Staged in celebration of the story’s 50th anniversary of publication, David Greig and Charlie Fink’s Olivier Award-nominated adaptation, directed by Max Webster, is inventively transformed into a semi-staged pint-size version to keep young (and older) minds entertained, enchanted and empowered with its central message of protecting the planet.
Written 50 years ago, The Lorax’s magical battle to save his beloved truffula trees and the whole of Paradise Valley from the go-getting Once-ler resonates today louder than ever.
Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax is the fourth in the IN CAMERA: PLAYBACK series of recorded versions of our live OLD VIC: IN CAMERA performances.
Recommended for ages 6+
Run time: One hour 50 minutes including a 15 minute interval
WHO CAN BOOK AN IN CAMERA: PLAYBACK TICKET?
IN CAMERA: PLAYBACK tickets are offered to schools only. Teachers will be asked to register their school before they are able to book a ticket for their class and must book their ticket using their own school email address
DO I NEED TO BOOK IN ADVANCE?
Tickets will be released on Mon 29 Mar and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and we’re only able to offer a limited number of tickets for each of the three IN CAMERA: PLAYBACK streams
HOW MANY CLASSES IN MY SCHOOL CAN WATCH?
Multiple classes within your school can watch, but each class teacher will need to book their free ticket separately once tickets are released on Mon 29 Mar. Your unique link can only be used to watch on one device – if you share it with another class and they join before you, you won’t be able to join. We also need a separate teacher email address for each class that will be watching as we can’t send more than one link to the same email address.
ARE THESE AVAILABLE ON-DEMAND?
Whilst these are recordings, they are streamed from the theatre which means they are not available on demand – it isn’t possible to pause the stream or watch it later once it’s started
