Care homes across the UK are invited to come together this Christmas to stream a FREE recording of 2020’s OLD VIC: IN CAMERA – A Christmas Carol.
Matthew Warchus’ big-hearted, smash hit production of Charles Dickens’ immortal classic, adapted for the stage by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, His Dark Materials), was uniquely and creatively adapted for the award-winning OLD VIC: IN CAMERA series which brought 43,000 households together during lockdown. The Old Vic has been granted special permission to re-share a recording of one of the performances for free with residential care homes for adults and children nationwide.
The film will be offered to view for free on Vimeo via a link which will be live from 9am on Tue 09 Dec 2025 until midnight on Wed 10 Dec 2025. It will be available to watch with or without captioning.
You can register your care home by completing an A Christmas Carol for Carers registration form. The deadline for registrations is Fri 28 Nov 2025 at 5pm.
FAQs
How will you be streaming this?
The film will be available from 9am on 09 Dec until midnight on 10 Dec via Vimeo (accessed through your web browser) which means you will be able to watch on your phone, tablet or laptop. If you want to link this up to a television screen you will need an HDMI cable.
How will it work?
You will receive an email to confirm your registration once you have completed the registration form to request access. It’s important you check you’ve received this so we can be sure we have the correct email address. Please note, it may take up to one week to process your registration.
On 08 Dec, you will receive an email with the Vimeo links and information on how to watch. The links will become ‘live’ at 9am on 09 Dec. Even though this performance is pre-recorded, it will only be available between the specified times, so you’ll then need to make sure you’re online to watch the performance.
