About the show

Care homes across the UK are invited to come together this Christmas to stream a special recording of 2020’s OLD VIC: IN CAMERA – A Christmas Carol.

Matthew Warchus’ big-hearted, smash hit production of the Charles Dickens’ immortal classic, adapted for the stage by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), was uniquely and creatively adapted for the award-winning OLD VIC: IN CAMERA series which brought 43,000 households together during lockdown. The Old Vic has been granted special permission to re-share a recording of one of the performances for free with residential care homes for adults and children nationwide* for Old Vic Playback: A Christmas Carol for Carers. Registration is now closed for one of two online performances, on Mon 11 Dec at 2.30pm and Wed 13 Dec at 2.30pm.

Both screenings include the option of live captioning and audio description.

FAQs

HOW WILL YOU BE STREAMING THIS?

All performances will be streamed using Zoom, which means you will be able to watch on your phone, tablet or laptop. However you plan to watch, we would recommend downloading the free Zoom app.

HOW WILL IT WORK?

Please note it may take up to one week to process your application.

  1. You will receive an email to confirm your booking once this process is complete. It’s important you check you’ve received this so we can be sure we have the correct email for you.
  2. At least 12 hours before your chosen performance you’ll then receive information on how to watch. Even though this performance is pre-recorded, it isn’t available on demand and will only be streamed at the specified time, so you’ll then need to make sure you’re online in time to watch the performance.

For any queries or changes to your application please contact our Box Office team at box.office@oldvictheatre.com.

All performances will be streamed using Zoom, which means you will be able to watch on your phone, tablet or laptop. If you want to link this up to a television screen you will need an HDMI cable.

WILL YOU BE DOING ACCESS PERFORMANCES?

Monday 11 December performance will not have captioning, Wednesday 13 December performance will display captioning for everyone watching. You can choose which performance to attend. For both performances, there will be live audio description  which you can turn on or off as needed.
