We are delighted that Backstage, our new building, is now open.
We hope that Backstage, situated right next to our iconic theatre, will be a space for everyone to enjoy.
Across the ground and first floors, and open weekdays from 8am and 10am on Saturdays, our daytime cafe and workspace will serve breakfast and lunch before transforming into a vibrant bar and restaurant at night.
Also on the first floor, you can venture out onto the terrace or borrow a script to read from our free Script Library. All floors are accessible via the lift.
As well as the public spaces, Backstage also provides a home for our groundbreaking employability, Education & Community programmes, that support local communities, schools and emerging creative practitioners. We are excited that, for the first time, we have a dedicated education studio, the Clore Learning Centre, Writers’ Room for creatives to work and collaborate and a Studio space.
Plus, we have also created a brand new bookable private events space on the top floor with a spectacular terrace that has panoramic views of the London skyline.
Backstage is a space shaped by people, open to all, built for creativity and rooted in community.
Come in, look around and enjoy.
Cafe & Bar
By day, the Backstage Cafe & Bar is a relaxed neighbourhood hub with coffee, workspace and fresh seasonal food. By night, it transforms into a vibrant bar and restaurant for pre-show dining, post-show conversation and late night drinks.
Backstage Open Day
We are thrilled to invite you to a special Open Day as we celebrate Backstage and showcase everything it has to offer. You’ll have the chance to explore the building, discover more about our work and take part in taster sessions led by creative professionals.
Hire our Events Space
We have a new events space available to hire on the top floor of Backstage. The space is flooded with natural light and has striking panoramic views across the London skyline.
